A section of water department employees of Rajshahi City Corporation and city dwellers on Wednesday confined the RCC chief engineer, demanding functioning of Water Supply and Sewerage Authority in the city.

According to the sources, about 60 employees of RCC along with several hundreds of the city dwellers encircled the Nagar Bhaban and then confined the chief engineer, Sharit Datta Gupta, at his office.

Releasing him after half an hour, the demonstrators had gathered in front of the Nagar Bhaban and said the corporation had failed to supply sufficient water to the city dwellers, sources in the department said.

The city people threatened to announce new courses of actions if their demand was not met immediately.
