Former President of Chittagong Union of Journalists(CUJ) and Chittagong Press Club, columnist and freedom fighter Mohammed Idris breathed his last at 3.00 pm at CMCH yesterday, says a press release.

He was 58.

He is survived by his wife, son and two daughters.

Idris had long been suffering from cancer and diabetes.

His first Namaje-Janaza was held at Nasirabad Rupasi Housing Society premises followed by a second janaza at Chittagong Press Club Premises after which he was laid to rest at Akber Shah Graveyard at city's Khulsi area.

Meanwhile the leaders of CUJ and Chittagong Press Club including CUJ president Mostaq Ahmed,  GS Nazimuddin Shyamol, Press Club President Ali Abbas, GS Ejaj Yusufi, Helaluddin Chy, Nowser Ali, Monzur Alam Monzu, Didarul Alam, Dr. AQM Sirajul Islam and Reaz Haidar expressed deep shock at the death of late leader and sympathy for the members of the bereaved family
