A T M Shamsul Huda, after a meeting at the EC Secretariat, told reporters: "We'll hold the DCC elections in December even if we can't organise the expired union council and municipality elections."

The EC will soon sit to finalise that schedule, he added.

The cabinet approved in principle, amendment to a law on Sep 6 regarding the municipality area demarcation. A similar measure should be taken in case of the DCC area delineation, election commissioner Sohul Hossain had told bdnews24.com.

The DCC elections have been delayed due to complications regarding the area demarcation of the capital.

Huda in this concern stated: "The DCC elections will be held under the old area boundary, not the new."
