Our Correspondent

A special court in Gazipur on Monday sentenced outlawed JMB leader Abdullah al Mamun Sohail, also known as 'Zahid' and 'Akash', to a total of 34 years in jail in two cases.

Judge SM Rezaul Karim of Gazipur Special Court sentenced him to 14 years in jail in an arms case and 20 years in an explosives case, both filed against him with Tongi Police Station on Feb 2 in 2006.

RAB members arrested Mamun on Jan 30 at Ashulia Bazar.

On his confession, law enforcement agencies retrieved 48 detonators and a huge cache of explosive materials from the capital's Gazipur area earlier this year.
