BNP Human chain foiled in Ctg

The human chain programme of BNP in Chittagong was foiled in the face of police resistance yesterday.

The programme was intended to demand release of Khaleda Zia and overseas treatment of Tarique Rahman.  
Fifteen people were injured at the incident, claim party members.

However, the party's Ctg District South Unit claims to have staged human chain.

President of Chittagong District North Unit and Central Finance Secy Golam Akbar Kondaker said that police offered resistance as they tried to form human chain in front Chittagong Press Club yesterday.

At a stage of altercation, police charged batons and dispersed the crowd.

Of the injured, condition of Abdus Salam, Safayet and Nasir was stated to be critical.

The programme faced resistance five minutes after  the beginning.

Among others, Rozi Kabir, Afsaruddin of Jamaat, Nur Mohammed of JP, MA Sabur and Ahmed Kalil Khan were present.
