CA off to Colombo

Chief adviser Fakhruddin AhmedDesk Report

Chief adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed left Dhaka Thursday night for Colombo to join the 15th Saarc summit set for Aug 2-3, a government spokesman said.

A Singapore Airlines flight carried the chief adviser and his entourage to the capital of the island nation.

The CA's wife Nina Ahmed is accompanying him.

Foreign affairs adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury and foreign secretary Touhid Hossain were already in Sri Lanka.

A meeting of the Saarc Programming Committee was held on July 27-28 and the Saarc Standing Committee (secretary level) meeting was held on July 19-30.

The two-day meeting of Saarc Council of Ministers began Thursday.

Fakhruddin is expected to hold three bilateral meetings with India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Colombo in addition to attending the summit.

The CA will return to Bangladesh on Aug 4.
