Kapoor pays homage to Armed Forces martyrs

Indian army chief Deepak Kapoor Monday laid wreaths at Shikha Anirban to pay tributes to the Armed Forces members martyred during the Liberation War, the Inter-service Public Relations Directorate said in a statement.

General Kapoor went to Senakunja where a smart army contingent offered him a guard of honour. He also planted a sapling there.

Kapoor met Bangladesh army chief Moeen U Ahmed at the army headquarters, the statement said.

Deepak also called on naval chief Vice Admiral Sarwar Jahan Nizam and Air Force chief Air Marshal SM Ziaur Rahman, it added.

The Indian army chief, who arrived in Dhaka on Sunday on a six-day tour, will also visit National Museum, National Defence College, liberation war memorial sites in Comilla and other places of Bangladesh.

Kapoor is scheduled to leave Dhaka on August 1.
