Drenching weather to last till weekend

Dark skies, flooding streets and wet feet will have to be suffered until week's end as the drenching weather caused by an active monsoon front is expected to continue countrywide until Saturday, the met office said Tuesday morning, reports bdnews24.com.

Rainclouds generated by the monsoon weather system caused downpours all over Bangladesh starting Saturday night.

"It may continue raining throughout the day (Tuesday). All the five divisions except Sylhet may experience medium to heavy rainfall at many places," Agargaon meteorological office's Quamrul Hasan told bdnews24.com.

"This rain caused by the active monsoon front is likely to continue till July 5," he said.

A weather bulletin issued Monday evening said places in Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Khulna and Barisal divisions may see rains accompanied by thundershowers and gusty to squally winds. Other areas may also experience medium to heavy rainfalls.

Rainfall recorded in Dhaka over 24 hours to 6am Monday was 40 mm, at Cox's Bazar was 187 mm, at Jamalpur 107 mm and at Tangail 93 mm.
