I Am Staying Here Miccoli
Thursday, 19 June 2008

Palermo striker Fabrizio Miccoli insists he is staying despite reports claiming he was set to join Lecce, Goal.com reports.
The Rosanero hit-man enjoyed a good season last term but he was always under Amauri’s shadow who stole the show at the Renzo Barbera.

With Amauri moving to Juventus, Miccoli has another chance to shine in Sicily and he reveals that he has no intention of leaving.

“I am fine at Palermo and I see no reason as to why I should leave,” Miccoli told Stadio News.

“The move to Lecce? I have dreamed of playing there ever since I was young but that doesn’t mean it will happen now.”

Miccoli also spoke of the reported interest from his former side Benfica. The Portuguese club are currently looking at the striker but he doesn’t seem interested in moving back there.

“If Zamparini said I will stay then that is what will happen,” said Miccoli.

“I have read the Portuguese papers, I left Lisbon with good memories and I am happy that they remember me.

“However, I haven’t heard from anybody at the club.”

There has been a summer exodus in Sicily with several stars all moving to pastures new but it seems as if Miccoli’s move to Lecce has been put on hold for the time being.
