Binod Bihari Chowdhury, a leader of the anti-British movement and a close associate of the celebrated revolutionary Mastarda Surya Sen, was admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital Wednesday.

The 98-year old, a leading firebrand of the Indian independence movement, was taken to the CMCH emergency from his Momin Road house at around 9:30 am. He was later transferred to the cardiology department.

Binod Bihari is currently under the supervision of Dr Manzur Morshed, head of the cardiology department.

Dr Manzur said that the veteran campaigner was admitted to the hospital due to complications related to asphyxia and anaemia. He was doing better now, the doctor added.

Cardiologists are examining the patient to diagnose any possible heart ailments.
