Jubo Dal will launch a black-badge campaign on June 1 demanding the release of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami, the party said in a press conference Tuesday.

"The wearing of black badges is part of a programme to realise a12-point charter of demands," Jubo Dal acting general secretary Abdus Salam Azad told reporters at the NAM Flat residence of BNP leader Khandaker Delwar Hossain.

The 12-point demands include the release of all political detainees, lifting of the state of emergency, scrapping emergency powers rules, holding national elections prior to all other polls and curbing prices of commodities.

The BNP front organisation also urged the government to ensure Khaleda Zia's particiaption in political dialogue by scrapping the three graft cases – involving Gatco, Niko and Barapukuria coal mine – against her.

"We have announced our own programmes to realise the demands. We will join the main party (BNP) if it announces any movement," said Jubo Dal acting president Miah Mohammad Selim.

"The grassroots activists and leaders want movements. There is no alternative to such mass movements and programmes to get the leader freed," he said.

Organising secretary Khairul Kabir Khokan said: "The government has been allowed one and a half years, no more time will be given now. We have to be prepared to release our leader."
