M Khairul Kabir, additional director general of the Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development in Comilla, has assumed office of the director general(DG).

He had been director general (current charge) since December 3, 2007 before his assumption of the office of the director general.

He has worked with the institute in capacities such as assistant director, deputy director, joint director and director of administration training, project and other important division since 1976.

He also discharges his duties as director of the Comprehensive Village Development Project of the institute which is now implemented as a national programme.

He received his master's degree in mass communications and journalism from the University of Dhaka and his second master's degree from the University of Leicester in United Kingdom.

He has more than 20 research publications. He has visited different countries in Asia and Europe. He is a resident of Munshiganj.
