Cricketers Get Stranded in Ctg for 3hrs
Sunday, 13 February 2011

Bangladesh and Canada cricket teams have left Chittagong for Dhaka after remaining stranded at the Shah Amanat International Airport for about three hours because of a technical glitch in a Biman flight.

Bangladesh team manager Tanjeeb Ahsan Saad told that they were scheduled to leave Chittagong on board the flight, BG-0022, around 11:30am on Sunday.

"The flight carrying us took off as per the schedule, but it immediately got stranded in the runway due to a technical problem," Saad added saying that members of the two teams were later brought to the airport.

The team members later left the port city on board the same aircraft after the Biman authorities managed to overcome the glitch around 2:20pm.

The airport authorities did not make any immediate comment.

The two teams went to Chittagong to face a warm-up match ahead of the Cricket World Cup. Bangladesh brushed off Canada by a nine-wicket victory in the match on Saturday.
