DHAKA: Another band of 337 suspected mutineers from Rifles Sports Board and all directorates under the BDR headquarters were indicted Tuesday in the ongoing serial trial of some 3,500 rebel border guards.

Submission of depositions by the accused in the dock also began following the formal charge framing, court sources said.

The Special Court-10 headed by Col Khandaker Obaidul Hasan and comprising Lt Col Md Nurul Alam and Major ASM Kawsar as members framed and read out charges against the 337 suspects at the Durbar Hall of the BDR headquarters at Pilkhana.

All the accused were produced before the court in the morning.

The court read out charges against 177 accused Tuesday while against 160 on Sunday, and framed charges against all the 337 suspects in the group.

Judicial panel members also include Lt Col Md Nurul Alam and Maj ASM Kawsar while Deputy Attorney-General Kazi Md Ezarul Haque Akand is in the court on behalf of the attorney-general.

Earlier on August 4, the mutiny case was filed with the BDR Special Court-6. Later, the case filed against the 337 was transferred to the court-10.

On February 25-26 in 2009, a total of 74 people, including 57 army officers, were killed in an unprecedented BDR mutiny and carnage.

A total of eleven courts formed by government authorities are holding trial of the suspects on mutiny charges under the BDR law while on charges of various crimes committed during the mutiny in the headquarters and most garrisons of the border force across the country.
