AL MP Sued Over Associate's Death

A case has been filed against ruling Awami League MP of Bhola, Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shaon, over the murder of a close associate and Juba League leader, Ibrahim Ahmed.

Ibrahim's brother, Masum Ahmed filed the case with Dhaka's Chief Metropolitan Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

The court took the case into cognisance and metropolitan magistrate Shahadat Hossain ordered the police to submit the probe report of the unnatural death case filed with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police.

It also said that it will take further steps about the murder case after receiving the probe report.

The plaintiff's lawyer Enamul Haque Khan told bdnews24.com: "Eight people have been mentioned in the case including Nurunnabi Shaon. A number of other unidentified persons have also been accused."

Shaon's bodyguard Delwar Hossain, driver Kamal Hossain, driver of the microbus that took Ibrahim to the hospital Majharul Islam Mithu, 'Mizan', 'Jibon', 'Liton' and 'Alam' have been named in the case.

The case was filed around 11.30am at the CMM Court. A hearing followed on whether or not to take the case into cognisance.
