BNP had a Hand in 2005 Series of Bomb Attacks: Hasina
Tuesday, 17 August 2010

Prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday reiterated her stance that the then ruling BNP-led four party alliance had a hand in the 2005 series of bomb attacks.

Speaking at the inauguration the first staff course of the National Academy for Education Management at its administrative building, Hasina sternly criticised the series of bomb explosions that took place at more than 500 spots in 63 districts on Aug 17, 2005.

The prime minister vowed to uproot terrorism from the country and promised to probe into the attacks and flush out those responsible.

"I personally believe that the synchronised series bomb attacks over a half-hour duration could not have been executed without the (then) government's backing," Hasina added.

Immediately after the attacks in 2005, the then opposition leader Sheikh Hasina blamed the BNP-led government of being involved.
