14 More Complaints Filed Against Jamaat Leader
Saturday, 07 August 2010

Fourteen more complaints over Jamaat-e-Islami leader Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher's threat to the ruling Awami League-led government were filed with police in Dhaka, Bogra and Gopalganj on Friday.

On Thursday, a similar complaint was filed with Shahbagh police in the city.

The latest complaints came a day after state minister for law Kamrul Islam asked the Awami League men to file cases with local police as the threat amounted to a provocation to harm the government and the party in power.

Taher on Wednesday had said that they would use reserve forces against the government at the appropriate time. The fundamentalist party alleges that the government has moved against the Jamaat to destroy it politically.

Chalkbazar Police Station, Kamrangirchar, according to the police, each received one case, Dakkhin Keraniganj three and Keraniganj Model Police Station seven on Friday against Taher.

Bogra district Sadar police and Kotalipara sub-district police of Gopalganj each received one case against the former Jamaat MP.
