Six Dead in Narsinghdi Road Accident

At least six people were killed with another 20 injured in a road accident in Narsinghdi on Saturday.

The accident took place at around 9am on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway near the Shibpur area of Kumarpara Upazila.

Shibpur police station's sub-inspector Hedayetul Islam told that six passengers of a Dhaka-bound commuter bus of Sapna Paribahan, died on the spot as it collided head-on with a goods-laden truck coming from the opposite direction.

Four among the six dead have been identified as Jasim, 25, Kawsar, 35, and Kalam, 13, of Kishoreganj's Kuliarchar Upazila and Abdur Rashid Mia, 30, of Narsinghdi's Belabo Upazila.

Six among the critically injured passengers, Rana, 28, Rina Begum, 23, Alam Mia, 20, Mamun, 15, Farid, 38, and Jagat Molla, 42, were sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The other injured had been admitted to the Narsinghdi Sadar Hospital.

Police have not yet confirmed the identities of the other two dead passengers. The bodies have all been sent to the morgue for autopsy.

Hedayetul said that Shibpur police had filed a case in relation to the incident
