The struggling ship breakers termed the draft policy on ship breaking dispatched by the Ministry of Water Transport and framed by the committee regarding ship breaking and re-processing policy as an 'incomplete' one and demanded necessary amendment and addition.

Recommendations to the concerned Ministry of the government were placed at a press conference organized by the YAPSA held at the Chittagong Press Club yesterday.

Md Ali Shaheen said the government has already taken initiative to formulate a ship breaking policy for the lone industry located in Chittagong following the united efforts of all and hence it is a great achievement.

He placed different suggestions including the formation of a national committee and removing of all sorts of wastages before importation and formulating environment-friendly ship breaking planning keeping the present condition of the shipyard under consideration.
