Danish businesses to explore power potential

A team of Danish delegates are exploring the possibility of investment in power and environmental services.

Delegates of 10 power and energy companies from Denmark sat for a day-long meeting with 70 Bangladeshi businessmen in the capital on Sunday.

Inaugurating the event, commerce minister Faruk Khan told the foreign delegation that there is vast opportunity of investing in the hydro-power, electricity, ship building, agro based industries and information technology.

Claiming that the investment environment is great, the minister said he hoped that Danish businessmen would seize the opportunity.

The Danish minister for development, Soren Pind, said that his country had good relations with Bangladesh.

Danish businessmen will invest here after exploring the sectors themselves he added.

The Danish minister also said that Denmark was interested to invest in hydro-projects and power generation.

Energy advisor Tawfiq-e-Elahi said that hydro-power projects had significant potential in Bangladesh and called for investment in power generation.
