Industrial Park In Mirersharai : Minister

Industries minister Dilip Barua on Thursday told parliament that an industrial park would be set up at Mirersharai upazila in Chittagong.

The minister informed the House about the government decision while answering a question from Nurul Islam MP.

Answering to a query of MA Jabbar MP from Satkhira-2, Barua said some new projects had been launched alongside the reinforced programmes of BSCIC for giving the small and cottage industry a shot in the arm.

The projects include setting up of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and relocation of tanneries of Hazaibagh to proposed industrial town at Savar.

On top of that, the other projects like Shatranji project to revive Sirajganj industrial park, development of Benarasi Palli (village), garment industry park, plastic industry town, automobile industry town,social and economic development for Monga-hit people are underway.

The work for Jhalakathi industrial city, Kumarkhali Weaving Industry and expansion of BSCIC areas has also been undertaken.

In reply to another query, the minister said not a single organisation under his ministry has faced closure because of worker unrest and global economic crunch.
