ADP To Be Revised Early

The government will revise its Tk 30,500 crore Annual Development Plan after the first half of the fiscal year.

Planning secretary Habibullah Majumder said Wednesday that the ADP would be revised and amended between Jan 15-20, five months ahead of the usual June revision.

Majumder also said the rate of ADP implementation in the first four months (July to October) of the fiscal year was "satisfactory".

The planning secretary was briefing journalists after an ECNEC meeting chaired by prime minister Sheikh Hasina, which approved five development projects totaling Tk 433 crore.

The projects approved include the construction of Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre at a cost of Tk 275 crore. The exhibition centre will be sited at the old airport area. The government will bear Tk 65 crore of the cost with China giving the remaining amount.

They also include construction of fifty highway police outposts across the country at a cost of Tk 49 crore and construction of Directorate of Drug Administration offices in five divisional towns at a cost of Tk 28 crore.

Also approved were the Tk 44 crore National Sanitation Project (Second Phase); a Tk 37 crore Water Development Board project in Madaripur town and its adjoining areas; and
