BCB President Named 2011 WC LOC Chairman

The Bangladesh Cricket Board on Saturday formed the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 2011 ICC World Cup with BCB president Lt General Sina Ibn Jamali as its chairman.

The decision was taken at the BCB Board of Directors meeting held at the BCB office in Mirpur as the BCB is supposed to send the names of the LOC to the Central Organising Committee by this month.

BCB director Dewan Shafiul Arefin Tutul has been named convenor of the LOC while director Ahmed Iqbal Hasan is treasurer, BCB media and communications committee chairman Mohammed Jalal Younus disclosed after emerging from the meeting.

He also informed that the members had been entrusted with forming the full committee consisting of BCB directors and the total number of members in the full committee would be 11.

The meeting also decided that joint secretary (political) of the ministry of home affairs would represent Bangladesh in the Central Security Committee for the ICC World Cup and the alternative representative would be the DIG police (headquarter).

It also decided to donate 5,000 dollars to the International Cricket Council to support the families of the victims of the Lahore terrorist attack. The board also decided to form a Strategic and Operational Plan for the next four years.

A lengthy discussion was held on the 2009-10 budget and the meeting decided to create a reserve of 20 percent from each year's revenue.

The Board also decided to hold a calendar and scheduling meeting on July 21 and a pre-discussion on the budget meeting on July 26 under the finance committee and subsequently the budget will be submitted for approval in a meeting on August 6.

A BCB delegation led by president Lt Gen Sina Ibn Jamali will meet the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Sports on Sunday to apprise the committee on Bangladesh's performance in the last ICC World T20 held in England.
