The Shahjalal University of Science and Technology ( SUST) administration on Sunday served a ‘show-cause’ notice against four students on charge of bringing out procession on the campus.

The students, who were served with the notice, are Rani, Raqib, Zahid and Muhib of the 2nd year course in the Chemical Engineering Department of the university.

According to the campus sources, general students of SUST brought out a silent procession on the campus on January 23 in protest against an attack on three students of the university by some miscreants in the locality.

The administration had issued the notice against the four students, asking them to explain why actions should not be taken against them for bringing out the procession without taking prior permission of the authorities, the campus sources said.

The notice was served against the students following a decision by the proctorial committee, acknowledged proctor Golam Ali Hayder. But the general students in the university raised questions about the notice, on the ground that it was illogical to hold responsible only four students for the incident, while more than hundred students had participated in the procession.
