US Confirmed Swine Flu Total Rises To 91: CDC
Friday, 01 May 2009

US health officials confirmed a total of 91 human cases of H1N1 swine flu across the country on Tuesday.

"We're reporting 91 confirmed cases in the United States," Dr. Richard Besser, acting director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, told a news briefing.

Besser said the current confirmed caseload included 51 cases in New York, 16 in Texas, 14 in California, and cases in Massachusetts, Michigan, Arizona, Nevada, Indiana, Kansas and Ohio.

He said the US outbreak of swine flu -- which has killed a toddler in Texas but which in almost all other cases has resulted in only mild symptoms -- continues to develop. "These numbers are almost out of date by the time I say them," Besser said.
