CPB Observes 61st Anniversary
Saturday, 07 March 2009

The Communist Party of Bangladesh observed the 61st founding anniversary of the political party Friday.

The party raised flags at the central office in the morning and held discussion sessions at different unit offices at Motijheel, Paltan, Mohammadpur and other places.

On this day in 1948, the party had kicked off its campaign in Pakistan, and joined hands with Awami League during the independence movement and the liberation war.

Paying tributes to the leaders and workers involved in CPB's longstanding struggle since inception, the party's president Manzurul Ahsan Khan and general secretary Mujahidul Islam Selim issued a statement on the occasion.

"The CPB will continue its movement and struggle of establishing a secular and persecution-free society of free citizens through combating communalism, tyranny, misrule and imperialism," it said.
