Monday, 06 October 2008

The government has extended the parole of ailing former prime minister Sheikh Hasina by another month.

"In continuation with the earlier release on parole Sheikh Hasina's parole has been extended from October 6 to November 6," a home ministry order on Sunday said.
The parole has been extended on several occasions, the latest being for a month on Sept. 4. The extension is scheduled to expire on Oct. 6.
Hasina was released on June 11 under special arrangements after confinement in a special jail for 11 months.
The next day she flew to the United States for treatment and is now staying there.
