Bdnews24.com The monsoon depression over the northern Bay of Bengal has moved west-northwestwards, the meteorological office said in a special bulletin Tuesday. The depression crossed the Bangladesh-West Bengal coast near Khulna in the early hours of Tuesday. It now lies over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining southwestern Bangladesh as a land depression, the met office said.
It is likely to move further in a northwesterly direction, being weakened gradually by rainfall. Under its influence, a steep pressure gradient persists over the northern Bay region, the weather office said.
Squally weather may continue over the north Bay and coastal regions. The sea will remain moderate.
The maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar and Mongla have been asked to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number 3.
All fishing boats and trawlers in the north Bay have been asked to take shelter until further notice.
