Agency The previous day's low over the northwest Bay and the coasts of adjoining Orissa and West Bengal has developed into a monsoon depression, crossing the Orissa coast early Sunday, the meteorological department said. It may proceed north-west side and turn into a land depression, due to the continuing low pressure gradient in the Bay of Bengal, forecast officer Mahmudul Kabir of the met office said.
"Under its impact, stormy weather may blow over the north Bay, including maritime ports and the coastal areas of Bangladesh," Mahmud said.
Chittagong, Cox's Bazar and Mongla seaports have been asked to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three.
All fishing trawlers and water vessels in deep waters has been advised to move nearer the coast.
The low began forming at 10am on Saturday, in the north Bay and areas close by.
