The full court will hear on Mar 15 the petition filed by Muhammad Yunus seeking a stay order on the High Court judgment upholding his removal from Grameen Bank as its managing director.

Hearing the stay petition on Wednesday, chamber judge Syed Mahmud Hossain put it forward to the full court of the Supreme Court.

Counsel for Yunus filed the petition with the Appellate Division earlier in the day.

Barrister Rokanuddin Mahmud stood for the petitioner, while attorney general Mahbubey Alam for the state and Tawfiq Newaz for the Bangladesh Bank.

The bench of justices Muhammed Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed and Gobinda Chandra Tagore on Tuesday turned down a writ petition of the Nobel laureate challenging the legality of a Bangladesh Bank order firing him from the Grameen Bank post.

The court also declared void another writ petition against the central bank order filed by nine Grameen Bank directors.

The Nobel laureate lost the legal battle to retain his job in the bank, set up in 1983, after three days of hearing.
