8,600 Chickens Die with Bird Flu in Rajshahi PDF Print E-mail

Bird flu virus has killed 8,600 chickens in a farm in Rajshahi.

Some 8,600 infected chickens were culled of 'Shahi poultry farm' at Dingadoba Ghoshpara in Rajshahi city on Wednesday night.

The owner of the farm Abul Kashem said that the chickens started dying a few days ago. He later informed the livestock officers about the incident.

District livestock officer Azizul Islam told bdnews24.com that a sample from an infected chicken was sent to the Central Diseases Investigation Laboratory (CDIL) in Dhaka for tests two days ago. After the confirmation of the infection, chicken culling stared around 9pm on Wednesday.

District executive magistrate Alamgir Kabir and others of district administration were present during the chicken culling.
