DSE Fall Triggers Protests Again PDF Print E-mail

Traffic on Shapla Chattar- RK Mission Road has come to a halt when small investors took to the streets after steep fall in share prices.

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) general index lost 468.52 points and stood at 6058.66 around 2:25pm on Sunday.

Of the 237 traded issues, 247 declined, six gained and one remained unchanged.

The turnover at DSE was around Tk 5.13 billion until then.

Earlier, the investors hurled brickbats from inside brokerage houses at the police deployed in Motijheel area when the index shed 283 points and stood at 6244.12 around 12:05pm.

Additional police were deployed in front of DSE complex fearing protests by retail investors.

The small investors frequently took to the streets in the past four months whenever there was a steep fall.
