The 5th population and housing census will be carried out in the country for five days from Mar 15 next year.

Planning minister A K Khandker told journalists that the decision was taken at a meeting of the National Statistics Council, held at the Statistics Building at the capital's Agargaon, on Thursday.

The last population and accommodation census was run in January 2001.
