The operation on Bangladeshi pop maestro Azam Khan has been done successfully at a hospital in Singapore, his family said.

His eldest daughter Ima Khan told bdnews24.com that the 10-hour operation at Mount Elizabeth Hospital ended at around 7:30 pm local time. She said he would be kept in intensive care unit for two or three days.

The singer was sent to Singapore on July 14 for better treatment of mouth cancer.

He was born in the capital's Azimpur on Feb 28, 1950.He has released 17 solo albums to date. A large number of his songs were also released in mixed albums.

'Ore Saleka, Ore Maleka' is one of his songs that became very popular in the eighties.
