The central bank sees Bangladesh's GDP growth reaching 6 percent in the current financial year.

"We have still three months in hand .We hope to achieve 6 percent growth in GDP," said Bangladesh Bank governor Salehuddin Ahmed.

Masato Miyazaki, visiting adviser for IMF, Asia and Pacific, told reporters after a meeting at the central bank: "The Bangladesh economy is holding up. But challenge is coming."

"The next financial year will be critical. We hope Bangladesh authorities can face the challenge," Masato said

The IMF official also said remittance flow was showing a downward trend for decline in the export of human resources as well as fall in garment export orders.

He said decline in export would create bad impact on the sectors including service, transportation and construction.

He suggested that the new government carefully reformed revenue sector for additional allotment to infrastructure and social investment expenses in the coming budget.

Masato also gave emphasis on raising confidence of the state-run banks over financial market.

The BB boss said remittance flow was "much better than our expectation in March."

On the question of interest rate cuts, he said that he would sit with banks soon.
