Opposition leader Khaleda Zia has denied having evidence on last month's BDR bloodbath, a day after prime minister Sheikh Hasina asked her to give the investigators the proofs.

"I have never said I have any evidence [on BDR mutiny]," Khaleda said at a press briefing at her political office at Gulshan Saturday.

Instead, she said, the prime minister herself said in parliament huge evidence had already been found.

Hasina said Saturday since the opposition leaders had said she had evidence, "I am entreating her to hand it over to the probe committee".

Khaleda retorted, "A state minister of her government said this was caused by spending crores of taka.

"Evidence will come out if he is grilled," she said.

"The government's duty is to trace evidence and unravel the plot."

The two-time former prime minister also called on the government not to play politics over the sensitive issue.

"The losses or mistakes that have been made can't be reversed. Try sincerely so that no more loss or mistake takes place.

The BNP chief observed that there was still time and the plotters and instigators of the carnage should be exposed through a fair investigation.
