Says CA's press secy

The government dialogue with BNP has been set for Oct 14, by bringing it one day forward, the chief adviser's press secretary said on Saturday.

"The government will hold talks with BNP on the morning, and will sit with Jamaat-e-Islami in the afternoon, at the chief adviser's office," the CA's press secretary Syed Fahim Munaim told bdnews24.com.
 
The date had earlier been set for Oct 15. It was reset in consultation with BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia as it coincided with the deadline for party registration with the Election Commission.
 
Chief adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed will lead the government side. Five advisers Ghulam Quader, AF Hassan Ariff, Anwarul Iqbal, Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury and Hossain Zillur Rahman will accompany him in the dialogue.
 
BNP secretary general Khandaker Delwar Hossain told reporters at his NAM Flat residence: "BNP will sit with the government in the interests of a credible election. We will present our statement to the government to create an atmosphere for fair and free elections."
 
Replying to a query, he said: "The four-party alliance will decide about registration after talks with the government."
 
A special BNP committee, to prepare for the government dialogue, held a meeting at the office of joint secretary general Nazrul Islam Khan in Dhanmondi on Saturday, with BNP vice-chairperson MK Anwar, former lawmaker Abdul Mannan and office secretary Rizvi Ahmed attending.
 
MK Anwar told bdnews24.com after the meeting: "We have not finalised the discussion points of the dialogue."
 
He said they would submit a report on the same to the BNP secretary general after it was completed.
 
The issues that will be discussed include lifting emergency, defer the upazila polls, release of all political prisoners and ensuring a level playing field for all parties to participate in the elections, Anwar said.

Ihtesham Kazi  - Dialogue and party registratin |2008-10-16 16:08:19 It has becoming an irritant for we the public to hear the bargaining ploys of big political parties about registration. In no country any legitimate organization cannot run without registration with the government. Here in Bangladesh the parties who run government, and led the nation are not yet registered, and they put petty excuses to delay it. This is a kind of mental corrupotion, and the public should condemn in words and actions at the time when they will vote. 0   0
