Khaleda Zia and her family will pay for her son Tarique Rahman's medical expenses in the UK, an aide said Wednesday, reports bdnews24.com. "Many people at home and abroad have shown interest in paying for his treatment. But the family will pay for it," said Maruf Kamal Khan Sohel, a senior official at the BNP chairperson's media cell. "A part of the expenses has already been to London through his lawyer," Sohel, a former deputy press secretary to the PM, told bdnews24.com. "Madam Zia has expressed gratitude to those expressing interest." Tarique is now staying in a north London house and will be treated in a private hospital nearby, his lawyers say. He left for London on the night of Sept 11. Wife Zobaida and daughter Zaima went with him. Tarique quit his party post of senior joint secretary general before departing for London.
