Chief adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed arrived in Beijing Monday, beginning a four-day official visit to China, Xinhua reported.

Fakhruddin is scheduled to hold talks with president Hu Jintao, vice president Xi Jinping, and prime minister Wen Jiabao, foreign adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury said.
"The visit has both political and economic ramifications. Hopefully it will strengthen political ties and expand trade and investment relations," Iftekhar, who is accompanying the CA, told Sunday night prior to their departure.
He said Beijing and Dhaka saw each other as "all weather friends", and the relationship was a fixture of Bangladesh's international relations.
The CA is expected to return home on the morning of Sept 19.
The chief adviser and his entourage leave for the Chinese capital on a Dragon Airways flight shortly before 2am Monday, officials said.
The chief adviser's wife Nina Ahmed, office secretary Kazi Md Aminul Islam and press secretary Fahim Munaim are accompanying the chief adviser.
