Kuwait PM praises Bangladeshi workers PDF Print E-mail

The Kuwaiti prime minister has praised the contribution of Bangladeshi workers in his country to the foreign adviser, the foreign ministry said Thursday, reports agency.

A statement of the ministry said the Kuwaiti parliament would hold a special session on rights of the foreign workers on Sept 10.
The recent labour unrest in the Gulf state, partially led by Bangladeshis, may be discussed in the parliament session, according to some reports.
Prime minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah has also assured visiting foreign adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury of resolving the problems of Bangladeshi workers.
"He lauded the contribution of Bangladeshi workers to the Kuwaiti economy," Iftekhar quoted the Kuwaiti Prime Minister as saying in a press statement.
Iftekhar also sat with Kuwait's labour minister Bader Fahed Ali Al-Duwailah and met Bangladeshi workers in the Sheikhdom, urging them to abide by the country's laws.
The adviser drew the attention of the labour minister to resolve the outstanding labour issues, the foreign ministry said.
Iftekhar is scheduled to return back home Friday morning, ending his two-day state visit to Kuwait.
