Body of drowned student recovered PDF Print E-mail

A search and rescue team recovered the body of a drowned Stamford University student Saturday, 22 hours after he went missing at Madhabkundu falls at Moulavi Bazar, a police official said.

The rescuers, who started their operation early in the morning, retrieved the body of 22 year-old Al Fateh Mohammad Shahi around 11am, Baralekha sub inspector of police Jahangir Hossain told bdnews24.com.
 
Fourth year law student, Shahi, along with six friends, had gone to bathe at the falls around 2:30pm Friday, but he failed to surface after going under water in the 35-foot deep pool.
 
Local police, upazila officers and local fire service personnel began their rescue operation Friday afternoon, but were forced to stop as night fell. They resumed their their work Saturday as soon as daylight appeared.
 
Shahi is the son of Abdul Matin from Laxmanpur village in Daganbhuiyan upazila, Feni.
 
Shahi's cousin headed for their village home with the body around 1pm Saturday.
