The field is located at the hill area named Budbudi Chara at village Haidgaon bordering Patiya-Rangunia four km east of the upazila. The then Pakistan government, according to sources, appointed Burma Oil Company(BOC) to explore mineral resources at Budbudi Chara area. The organization submitted a report stating huge reserve of gas and oil there. Besides another team of Bangladesh army and two other foreign teams conducted survey in the area with same conclusion of existence of huge amount of minerals. Locals said, apart from Budbudi Chara, sometimes, coils of smoke are emitted from neighboring Srimai Canal and its surroundings.
