AP, LONDON -- The U.S. dollar was higher against other major currencies in European trading Tuesday. Gold fell. The euro traded at $1.4602, down from $1.4756 late Monday in New York. Other dollar rates: -- 109.74 Japanese yen, up from 109.35 -- 1.1067 Swiss francs, up from 1.0963 -- 1.0559 Canadian dollars, up from 1.0479 The British pound was quoted at $1.8347, down from $1.8525. Gold traded in London at $809.75 per troy ounce, down from $824.00 late Friday. Financial markets in London were closed Monday for a public holiday.
