AP, LONDON -- The U.S. dollar was mostly lower against other major currencies Monday morning in European trading. Gold prices rose.

The 15-nation euro rose to $1.4731 from $1.4680 late Friday in New York.

Other dollar rates compared with late rates Friday included: 110.21 Japanese yen, down from 110.56; 1.0953 Swiss francs, down from 1.0976, and 1.0608 Canadian dollars, up from 1.0593.

The British pound was quoted at $1.8686, up from $1.8629.

Gold traded in London at $797.50 per troy ounce, up from $786.50 late Friday.
