Shamim Iskander freed on bail |

Dhaka, Aug 15 (bdnew24.com)—Shamim Iskander, Khaleda Zia's younger brother, was released on bail Friday morning. Deputy inspector general of prisons Major Shamsul Haider Siddiqui told bdnews24.com Friday: "He has been released on bail in line with a High Court order."
"He left Dhaka Central Jail around 11.30 am."
He was arrested from the gate of his sister's Shahid Moinul Road residence in Dhaka Cantonment on the night of July 18. Dhaka metropolitan chief magistrate's court ordered him to jail the next day.
He went to Khaleda's private residence on July 18 to visit the former prime minister's younger son Arafat Rahman Coco who had been released on bail that night.
Police arrested Shamim as he was leaving.
Shamim Iskander was detained under Emergency Powers Rules on charges of amassing wealth beyond his known income and concealing wealth information.
