Restaurant owner shot dead in Shyampur PDF Print E-mail

Dhaka, Aug 13 (bdnews24.com) – Unknown assailants shot dead a restaurant owner at Shyampur in Dhaka Wednesday, a police officer said.

The dead man was identified as 45 year-old Farid Uddin Sarker, a community leader and general secretary of Rayerbagh Traders Association.

Shyampur police sub-inspector Shahjalal told bdnews24.com that the incident occurred around 9am at Sarker's eatery, named 'Tama & Restaurant', near Rayerbagh Bus Stand.

The gunmen entered the place, fired at the businessman and left , said Shahjalal.

Locals rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Sarker's brother-in-law, Jewel told bdnews24.com: "To my knowledge he did not have personal enmity with anybody."

"We have no idea why he was shot," he said.

The dead body was being kept at DMCH morgue, the police official said.
