The office timings for government, semi-government, autonomous and semi-autonomous organisations during the ensuing month of Ramadan will be 9am to 3.30 pm, the interim cabinet decided Sunday.

The cabinet in a meeting at the Chief Adviser's Office set a recess time for zohr prayers from 1.15pm to 1.30pm, the CA's press secretary Syed Fahim Munaim told reporters after.

He added that Bangladesh Bank and the courts would fix their office timings according to their own rules; Friday and Saturday would remain the weekly holidays, as usual.

The press secretary said the cabinet also approved on principle the Local Government (Municipality) (Amendment) Ordinance 2008 and Local Government (City Corporation) (Amendment) Ordinance 2008.

He said it further approved a proposal to amend the Information and Communication Technology Act, 2006.

Munaim said a proposal regarding amendment of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) 1898 was placed in the meeting. After elaborate discussion, a directive was issued to present it again after further scrutiny.
