Staff Correspondent The Communist Party of Bangladesh approved and adopted four special resolutions, including withdrawal of cases against farm labourers involved with the Khas land movement, on the second day of its 9th Congress Friday. Congress spokesman Ahsan Habib Lavlu at a press conference Friday said the proposals include: withdrawal of the state of emergency and unconditional restoration of trade union rights, bringing the price of essentials within the reach of the common people and introduction of a "mass distribution system" throughout the country.
The congress has also pressed for the opening of all closed mills and factories across the country and payment of due salaries to workers.
It also called for the release of different leaders and workers—including CPB Rajshahi district president Mohsin Ali—and the withdrawal of all false cases—including those against farm labourers involved with the Khas land movement.
"Delegates from different districts on the sidelines of the main discussion, on the party's political, organisational and future course, proposed the four resolutions that have been adopted and approved."
The three day congress began Thursday at Mohanagar Natyamancha, with party leaders and workers from across the country, and foreign delegates from the South Asia region, participating.
