Staff Correspondent The government has extended the parole of Awami League general secretary Abdul Jalil by one more month, the home ministry said on Thursday. The ministry in a statement said the government was extending the term of Jalil's parole for the last time, which would end on Sept 10.
The ailing AL leader is now undergoing treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore.
He was originally paroled on March 2 for one month on medical grounds. The parole has since been extended four times.
Joint forces arrested Jalil on May 28 last year.
He was admitted to LabAid Cardiac Hospital on July 15 with serious heart ailments.
