Agriculture adviser CS Karim, who is leading a Bangladesh delegation to the NAM Ministerial Conference in Tehran, has emphasised the present and future impact of climate change, a government statement said Wednesday.

The adviser also stressed the current global issue of food security in the two-day conference that started at the OIC Convention Centre in Tehran Wednesday.

The adviser also extended Bangladesh's support towards the cause of Palestine and reiterated support towards a denuclearised but reunited Korea.

More than 70 countries have participated in the conference. Bangladesh was elected as one of the vice chairmen of the conference, the statement said.

The conference theme is solidarity for peace & justice. Main topics of the conference include Palestine, disarmament, climate change, terrorism, food security and culture of peace.

In his address to the opening ceremony, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the world entered a new phase where the rights of the people could be reserved through "love and brotherhood".

Ahmadinejad said NAM could now, more than ever, play a significant role in "this new phase and settle global differences, block discrimination, create justice and eventually become flag-holder of world peace".
